Leadership…..
The months of April through to July of 2025, have seen the most activity for the CRAA Directors and township residents.
Volunteers took to the streets to let the area residents know what was being planned for our Community.
Few people knew or had heard of the “ASPHALT PLANT” Proposal. These volunteers, Objection Papers in hand went door to door across Telephone Rd, Honey Road, Purdy Road, Lake Road, Crandall Road and the entire Little Lake Community. They gathered more than 500 signatures in protest of two proposals.
The first, a unique request, asking the Township to allow for a 24 hour a day operation for an exhausted Gravel Pit!
Of course, it was not for the Pit to operate 24 hours a day. The approval, should it receive consent, would extend to an “ASPHALT PLANT” that at this point had not been requested but anticipated.
With community support and effort, the OBJECTION and the detail provided to council by the CRAA secured a tepid “NOT AT THIS POINT “from the council on the 24 Hour a Day operation requested.
In an attempt to support Council, to voice a negative opinion for the proposed “ASPHALT PLANT” the CRAA provided Cramahe Township Council with a Legal Assessment of the current Official Plan and a Civil Engineers evaluation of the Township’s current Road condition’s and the financial impact should this proposal be approved. The estimation of necessary tax loads that would hit residence would be staggering.
Council Members, however, would not support the residents in the effort to Object to the ASPHALT PLANT proposal.
Instead, opting to hide behind a zoning that may permit an Asphalt Plant as an accessory or as an associated operation to an active Pit or quarry, and claiming they have no voice in the matter.
